His birth name is James Patrick Caviezel, yet he also has a few nicknames numbering “JC” and “Jimmy”. In terms of height, he is six foot two or 1 meter and eighty eight centimeters.

Mini Jim Caviezel Biography

Jim Caviezel was born in a close knit Catholic family and he was one of the 5 children of Maggie and Jim Caviezal. Even from an early age he was described as being very intense and he had two major interests: religion and sports. Due to his passion for sports, he started playing basketball and was very good at it, dreaming about one day playing in the NBA. Not only that, but he was also a very religious person and was always in church on Sunday with his parents.

Later in life, more precisely in 1984, Jim attended the Mount Vernon High School, yet after just 2 years, he decided to transfer to the O’Dea High School. In the next spring he transferred again, this time to Burien’s Kennedy High School, Washington. Because of his basketball skills, he immediately became a star in that high school and eventually graduated in nineteen eighty seven.

After graduating high school, he took classes at the Bellevue Community College and he continued playing basketball. Yet he experienced an injury that would soon shut his dreams of becoming an NBA player and that is when he shifted his attention towards acting.

In nineteen ninety he auditioned for a part in “My own private Idaho” and eventually won a small role, playing as a foreign airline clerk, after the told to the casting agents that he was actually a recent Italian immigrant.

Next year he decided to move to Los Angeles and between the auditions, he worked as a waiter. He managed to get small roles in Diggstwon, Wyatt Earp, the Wonder Years and Murder, She wrote.

Even though he was not well known, Caviezel’s popularity increased in nineteen ninety eight when he received great recognition for his role in the movie “The Thin Red Line” as idealist Private Witt. He managed to spark even more attention by playing in movies like “Ride with the Devil”, “Frequency” and “Angel Eyes”, which had him working with Jennifer Lopez. It was the role that established him as a great actor.

In 2002 he refused to do a scene in High Crimes, because it interfered with his strong Catholic faith and during that time he was selected by Mel Gibson in order to play in his upcoming movie called “The Passion of the Christ” which was very controversial. The movie became one of the best movies of all times in terms of profits and made Jim’s popularity levels skyrocket.

In June of 2006 Actor Jim Caviezel was taking summer classes at the University Of Notre Dame in order to get his college degree. On December 6th to December 7th he visited Bayside of granite Bay and he was part of an interview that Pastor Ray Johnston took in front of the audience, talking about the role he had in Mel Gibson’s “Passion of the Christ”. Jim Caviezel is currently working in a number of roles including playing the part of John Reese in the TV show Person of Interest.

As Director of Outlander

Howard McCain did a tremendous job as director of the movie Outlander. The movie was filmed in some locations that have very harsh elements. Some of the filming locations include Nova Scotia and Norway. And probably one of the hardest scenes filmed was at Kidston Lake, which was the scene of the spaceship crash site.

McCain also went to great lengths to make the movie Outlander as authentic as possible. He had a true viking ship constructed and he also had a professor in Iceland convert their dialogue into Old Norse which they then gave to all of the actors. McCain later admitted that it was hard to give the dialogue in the movie the right tone.

McCain states that it was even harder to complete the shooting scenes after an investor pulled out and they had to change shooting locations. However, as director, McCain was able to adapt as good directors are able to do.

McCain also directed the movie which was initially released in Latvia theaters on July 11, 2008. However, Outlander had first premiered at the Cannes Film Market on May 16th, 2008.

The film, which had an estimated budget of 50 million dollars, had a limited release in the United States. It first played in theaters in the U.S. on January 23, 2009. Due to its limited U.S. release, the movie only grossed $160, 641 in the United States. The theater release was followed by numerous DVD premieres worldwide.

The movie Outlander can be categorized as an action, adventure and science fiction film. Actor Jim Caviezel stars in the lead role as Kainan. Kainan is an alien whose spacecraft crash lands on earth in 709 AD. This is during the time that vikings ruled the world.

When the spacecraft crashed on earth, Kainan was transporting a predator known as Moorwen. When Moorwen escapes, Kainen must find a way to capture or kill the predator. He then leads an alliance with the vikings to kill the predator by fusing his advanced technological weapons with iron-age weaponry of the vikings.

Before Kainan is able to track down Moorwen, he is captured and held prisoner by the vikings. However, after Moorwen ravages the villages, Kainan forms an alliance with the vikings. Together, they try to destroy the predator. They finally find the Moorwen and defeat them. Kainen decides not to return to his home planet, but remains and becomes the king of the viking tribe.

In Outlander the movie, actor Jim Caviezel is surrounded by a great supporting cast. The cast of Outlander includes Sophia Myles (from the TV Series MI-5 and Moonlight) who portrays the character Freya in the movie, Jack Houston (of the Twilight Saga:Eclipse) who plays Wulfric and John Hurt (Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy) who plays the character Hrothgar in the film.

Howard McCain did an excellent job in directing Outlander. He, along with the cast listed above, made the plot of the movie very interesting for a science fiction based action movie. The movie was McCain’s first gig as a director since he last directed the TV movie Perfect Prey back in 1998. For going so long without being in a director’s role, McCain did an admirable job.

Filming Locations of Outlander The Movie

Filming of the movie was conducted in a number of locations including:

Bay of Islands, Newfoundland, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada

Electropolis Studios Inc., Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada

Elmsdale, Nova Scotia, Canada

Frenchman’s Cove, Newfoundland, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada

Gros Morne National Park, Newfoundland, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada

Kidston Lake, Spryfield, Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada

Kinsac Lake, Nova Scotia, Canada

Little Port, Newfoundland, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada

Mardalsfossen, Norway

Nine Mile River, Nova Scotia, Canada

Oakfield Provincial Park, Nova Scotia, Canada

These filming locations were probably the best ones chosen for filming a movie set during the viking age. Norway, Nova Scotia and Canada are all areas that give you that deep cold feel that you would come to expect to see in a movie about vikings. Even if it did include an alien from another planet.

The production of Outlander was handled by Virtal Films, Ascendant Pictures and a host of other production companies. The movie was produced in color and has a runtime of 115 minutes. There is no nudity but there is a lot of blood in Outlander the Movie and the MPAA has issued a rating of “R” due to violence in the film.
