What is "Young Onset Parkinson's Disease?" Young Onset implies simply that. It is a person that has been diagnosed at a much younger age with Parkinson's Disease then normal. Most people are diagnosed with this disease between the ages of 60 to 70 years of age. The appearance of Parkinson's Disease or "PD" usually involves shaking, unsteady gait when walking, poor balance, difficulty swallowing, talking and extreme exhaustion. Those are the "typical" signs of PD. Each person is unique and may share some or all of the above signs in addition to other signs.Why are Young People suddenly being diagnosed with this illness? I don't know that people are suddenly being diagnosed with this disease. I think neurologists and other specialists are learning more and more each day and have realized that this disease doesn't afflict strictly elderly people. There is also the theory that PD is caused from environmental issues. For example, I grew up in Southeast Texas where a plethora of refineries are abundant. The pollution they produce not only stinks, but is hazardous to our eco system.
